New Bosman Wine Releases and a Gold Award…..

There couldn’t be a happier time and we couldn’t be more excited, because a new favourite awaits to be found.  What a time to be a Bosman Wine Club member, and a lover of South African wine … the long winter has passed, time to bring out the glasses and try something brand spanking new!

With summer here, our attention turns to crisp white wines and soft salmon coloured Rose’s to beat the heat, as well as friendly red wines to serve with your cookouts. It is time to adjust our wine-drinking habits to reflect the changing seasons.

A member’s favourite, the Adama Shiraz ‘07 has won gold at this year’s Veritas competition!

Adding another gold to its long list of recognitions around the world. This would probably be the last we see of the award winning ‘07 vintage, seeing that there is a limited volume left before it’s sold out. Adama lovers, now is the time to order your favourite wine!

  27 Grape Varietal Rosé 2009

A Rosé distinctively made from 27 different grape varieties!

No wine recorded has ever boasted of so many different grape varieties. Being in the forefront of new developments in the wine industry and having our own vine nursery, we have the opportunity to experiment with unique varieties. The grapes were all selected from our vineyard garden in the Upper Hemel and Aarde region, Hermanus.

“Because our Rosé has grown in a cool climate, the vines produce less sugar, resulting in less alcohol. So the wine is very refreshing — still full of flavour but just not as alcoholic.” says Corlea, our winemaker. The palate is full of summer fragrances such as rose petal, strawberry, watermelon and quince.

Recently rosés have been proclaimed to be the trendy pour for warmer weather, so get busy and brush-up on your "pinks" and make a fashion statement at your next party or picnic lunch!

  Bosman Pinotage  2008

Pinotage has been a controversial variety for South Africa. Pinotage has produced some of the best wines ever made, but has also been blamed for bad connotations especially by international critics. Therefore we were very cautious in producing our first Pinotage. This is a wine for that very special occasion - it will excite your taste buds and every sip will become a love affair of the moment.

“My father grafted and planted the vines more than a decade ago and over the years they have produced wine grapes of superior quality.  Today, as the next generation, we aim to make a wine that is truly exceptional.” says cellar master, Petrus Bosman.

Attributes such as beautiful red fruit, finesse and subtle spice will make your knees weak with pleasure. The wine has been left in French and American oak barrels for 10 months and we only produced a limited volume of 10 barrels.

A quote from a good friend of ours, explaining well how we feel about this wine:  “It is the time when the past and the future come together that one experiences a moment of pure existence.”

  Dolce Primitivo 2007

During the WWII Italian prisoners of war (POW) worked in our vineyards and had a significant influence on our wine industry.  “For most of all they were true wine lovers, passionate about wine and regularly enjoyed my grandfather’s wine stories. Sadly one of the Italian soldiers drowned in the reservoir dam on the estate. Coincidently, planted around the bank of the dam is the Italian variety Primitivo from which we made a dessert wine as a sweet reminder of the Italian POW” says Petrus.

The grapes were desiccated on the vine before harvesting and aged for two years in French oak barrels before release. This naturally sweet wine, with concentrated flavours, is a delicious complement to dessert or the perfect finish to a festive occasion!
